Achieving Sustainable Development Goal 5
This volume uniquely highlights women’s empowerment, bringing in theoretical understandings, research studies and auto-ethnographic narratives of women belonging to different parts of the globe and paving the way towards achieving United Nations Sustainable Development goal 5. Its five distinct themes discuss the approaches, models, strategies, and a few success stories for empowering women, correlating and working towards a more equitable world. It also brings about other sustainable development goals integrated with gender equality and is essential for women’s overall well-being, safety, personal growth and development as individuals. A whole gamut of women’s development unfolds in the context of barriers and challenges to carve a niche to become empowered. The book is of interest to all those involved with women's studies, sociology, and anthropology, with inspirational examples toward achieving women’s equality.
