Professor Son is an expert in Viroinformatics and Computational Virology, currently serving as a faculty member at the Graduate School of Public Health, Seoul National University. He is also an adjunct professor in the Interdisciplinary Graduate Programme in Bioinformatics at the College of Natural Sciences, Seoul National University, and at the SNU Institute of Health and Environment.
After earning his DPhil (Oxon), Professor Son worked at the Max Planck Institute. He then held a position as a research professor at POSTECH in Korea before joining KISTI, a government-funded research institute, and eventually moving to Seoul National University.
Throughout his career, in addition to the roles mentioned above, he has worked in various positions and collaborations across different institutions, contributing to research advancements in multiple fields.
Drawing from these diverse experiences, his current research focuses on viruses, applying informatics techniques from a public health perspective.

Dr Myeongji Cho is a researcher and public servant at the National Institute of Health in Osong, Korea, working within the Division of Healthcare Artificial Intelligence Research. As the principal investigator for several research projects, she applies artificial intelligence techniques to biomedical research and healthcare. Dr Cho was selected as an expert in Artificial Intelligence through a highly competitive process and now applies her expertise to drive innovative solutions in these fields.
Previously, she worked at the Honam National Institute of Biological Resources, where the book was mostly completed. The development of the book began during her time at the SNU Institute of Health and Environment, where she served as a research professor.
Dr Cho graduated at the top of her class during her graduate studies at Seoul National University, where she earned her PhD in computational virology. Her dissertation focused on applying computational methods to viral evolution and cross-species transmission. Her current research expands on these foundations, focusing on AI-based approaches in medical image analysis, as well as computational virology and viral evolution. She has also led various interdisciplinary projects, collaborating across fields to enhance our understanding of viral behaviour, public health, and advanced healthcare technologies.
