Rodrigo Mariño, CD, MPH, PhD is a public health dentist and professorial fellow at the Melbourne Dental School, The University of Melbourne, Australia, where he has worked since 2004. Prof. Mariño has a dental degree from the University of Chile, a master’s in public health (University of Minnesota), and a PhD from the University of Melbourne. Prof. Mariño also has an Honorary appointment with the Faculty of Dentistry, Universidad de la Frontera in Temuco, Chile, and holds a position at the Population Oral Health and Research, Dental Services Monash Health in Melbourne, Australia, and at Riga Stradins University, Latvia. Prof. Mariño has also been a consultant to the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization in Washington, DC.
Prof. Mariño’s research focuses strongly on oral health promotion and reducing inequalities in oral health status. Prof. Mariño has excellent research expertise in social epidemiology, health economics, dental workforce issues, public health, migrant health, information and communication technology, gerontology and population oral health. He has established links and maintains continuous contact and research activities with major research and academic groups in Australia and overseas. Prof. Mariño has published more than 190 papers in scientific journals, several major research reports, 50 book chapters and five books. Prof. Mariño was a founder and first President of the e-Oral Health Research Network, International Association for Dental Research (IADR), and serves on the Editorial Boards of the Journal of Dental Research, BMC Oral Health, Dental Traumatology, and Gerodontology.
Sergio E. Uribe, DDS, MSc, PhD is an academic and researcher, currently serving as an Associate Professor at both Riga Stradins University, Latvia, and Universidad Austral de Chile. A/Prof. Uribe holds a bachelor’s in dental science, a Master's in Oral & Maxillofacial Radiology from the University of Valparaiso and a PhD in Biomedical Sciences from Universidad Austral de Chile, Valdivia, Chile.
Associate Professor at the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Oral Health, Riga Stradins University, Riga, Latvia, and Visiting Professor at LMU Klinikum, LMU, Munich, Germany. He holds a DDS, is a Specialist in Maxillofacial Radiology (MSc), and has a PhD. Prof. Uribe's research interests include diagnostic imaging, cariology, artificial intelligence, meta-research, and dental education. He is the Principal Investigator of the Global Initiative on AI for Health (GI-AI4H), a collaborative effort by WHO/ITU/WIPO to advance the application of artificial intelligence in dentistry. Prof. Uribe serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Dental Research and the Dental Traumatology Journal and has reviewed over 400 papers for more than 30 journals. In 2007, the International Dental Association in New Orleans, USA, honored him with the Research in Prevention Travel Award.
Ebingen Villavicencio-Caparó is a dental surgeon with a master's degree in Stomatology from the Peruvian University Cayetano Heredia, a doctorate in Health Sciences from the Catholic University of Santa María Arequipa Peru. Prof. Villavicencio is a specialist in Statistics and a researcher accredited by the National Secretariat of Science and Technology SENESCYT of Ecuador. He works as a professor of scientific writing and research methodology in postgraduate courses in Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia. He was appointed as a member of the committee of experts in oral health of the Ministry of Health of Peru. Prof. Villavicencio was responsible for the publications of journals and books at the Catholic University of Cuenca, Ecuador. He was also Chief Editor of the EDUNICA Catholic University Editorial of Cuenca, Ecuador. He has contributed to publications of journal articles and books on oral health epidemiology and philosophy of science. He was academic coordinator of the doctorate in Stomatology at the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia and is currently a professor of statistics and philosophy of science in the same doctorate. He is currently the academic coordinator of the master’s degree in public health at the Catholic University of Cuenca, Ecuador.
